Her Majesty The Queen Elizabeth II, very sadly passed away on 8th September 2022.

The Westgate-on-Sea Town Council, along with the rest of our nation and commonwealth send their sincere condolences to her children and extended family at this time. The Council’s Union Flag will be flown at Half Mast until 11am on 10th September when the Proclamation is read and it will return to Full Mast. The Union Flag will then return to Half Mast at 3.10pm on Sunday 11th September unless there is a Local Proclamation. The Union Flag will continue to be flown until 8am the day after the funeral as a mark of respect.

Her Majesty The Queen has left her mark on history and on her loved ones for her many outstanding achievements, our hearts go out to His Majesty the King, his siblings and his extended family.

We appreciate that many people across the town will be deeply saddened by this news. The Council has a Book of Condolence and this will be available to sign on Saturday 10th September from 10am until 1pm for the community and then again on Monday 12th September from 10am until 12.30pm each day next week.

The official district wide location for floral tributes is Hawley Square in Margate or alternatively you can leave floral tributes inside the St Saviours Parish Church garden where there is a dedicated area. St Saviours Parish Church is open each day from 10am until 5pm if you want to visit.

There will be a local Proclamation for Westgate-on-Sea tomorrow on Monday 12th September, this will take place at the War Memorial on Sea Road and is scheduled to start at 11am. If the weather is inclement the venue will be the Town Council office, 78 St Mildreds Road, Westgate-on-Sea, CT8 8RF.
