Now that the weather has turned, and we approach the winter months people are not visiting their sheds as much as they did in the summer. Due to this the sheds are an easy target for thieves. If you have no need to use your shed until the spring it is worth considering some target hardening. Some tips are mentioned below.

Please ensure sheds are secure. Offenders will target sheds which have poor levels of security.

It is worth having a good padlock on the door and consider a battery-operated shed alarm that responds to movement or door contact with a loud siren.

Don't give offenders the opportunity or the tools to commit a crime. Please lock everything away securely. Tools have can be locked inside a locker or box and secured with a chain.

Place items such as garden furniture or items as a physical barrier to prevent easy access to the shed.

Check on the security of your shed periodically so should you become a victim we can narrow down a timeline to when the incident occurred
