Meeting Agendas & Minutes
Council meetings are open to the public wherever possible. The agenda allows for the meeting to adjourn for fifteen minutes for the public to participate.
Westgate-on-Sea operates a committee and working group system where it delegates its functions to various committees and working groups in order to expedite the business of the council.
The Full Council meets around once every six weeks, usually on a Wednesday, with the exception of August when the Council is in recess. Full Council has the overall authority on the business of the Council.
The Finance and General Purposes Committee meets six times a year. Its primary purpose is to manage the Council's financial resources and to guide the Council on its strategy and action on policy and operational matters concerned with Council's finances, property, resources, land and manpower.
The Planning, Highways & Environment Committee meets monthly and considers responses to planning applications and responds to the local planning authority with the views of the corporate body. The Committee also recommends strategy and action on any matters related to the general environment of the Town.
The Human Resources Committee meets four times a year and its primary purpose is to manage human resources for the Council, debate and recommend on policy and operational matters in relation to the Council's Human Resources.
The Events, Tourism & Development Committee usually meets monthly. Its primary purpose is to promote Westgate-on-Sea as a tourism destination, organise local events and to encourage local groups, clubs and community organisations to work in collaboration with the Town Council.
There is also a Local Transport Committee.
The Allotments Working Group meets bi-monthly and considers any issues relating to the management of land facilities within the boundary of the Allotment Gardens.
Each year the Council approves its 'Standing Orders'. These are the rules that the council must abide by and prescribes how the council will transact its business.
