Thanet Local Plan Update

The Council is carrying out a partial update of the Thanet Local Plan, including the topics recommended by the previous Local Plan Inspectors. We have prepared two discussion papers and a number of studies have been undertaken on which we would welcome your views.

The discussion papers are:

Development Strategy - discusses how we decide where the focus of development should be up to 2040.

Employment Need - discusses the amount of jobs and sectors we have to plan for up to 2040.

The studies are:

Local Housing Need Update - identifies the amount and type of housing the Council needs to plan for up to 2040.

Retail and Leisure Study - discusses the amount of additional retail floorspace needed up to 2040.

Sustainability Appraisal Scoping Report and Habitats Regulations Assessment Scoping Report - discusses a range of environmental and other criteria against which the Local Plan will have to be assessed.

Summaries of these reports have also been published.

We are also re-opening our Call for Sites Consultation.

Hard copies of the documents are available to view at all local libraries and some Town or Parish Council offices.
