Westgate-on-Sea Town Council are statutory consultees for planning applications from Thanet District Council. Thanet District Council make all planning application decisions for the District but they must take into account views expressed by the Town Council and members of the public. These planning applications are considered at our monthly Full Council meetings. Members of the public are welcome to express their views on applications at these meetings by giving written notice to the Town Clerk by 4 pm on the Friday before the meeting. Thanet District Council are currently drafting a new Local Plan, this Plan sets out policies and proposals that will be used to guide decisions and investment on development and regeneration of the District. It will set out how and where homes, jobs, community facilities, shops and infrastructure will be delivered. It also identifies land to be protected from development. Thanet District Council are obliged to consult on this document, further details can be found here soon.
