An opportunity has arisen for a
Finance Officer / Receptionist
25 hours per week, on an hourly rate of £17.18 (NJC SCP 21 – equivalent to £33,143 full-time).

At Westgate-on-Sea Town Council, we’re committed to serving the local community with integrity, efficiency and warmth. We're seeking a detail-oriented and personable individual to take on a dual role that supports both our finance operations and front-of-house services.
The Role:
This role combines financial administration with receptionist duties – perfect for someone who thrives in a structured yet people-facing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Finance Officer Duties:
- Maintain accurate financial records and process invoices
- Manage council accounts, banking and reconciliation
- Assist with budget preparation and monthly reporting
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies
Receptionist Duties:
- Serve as the first point of contact for visitors and the public
- Provide a friendly and professional service to the public
- Handle incoming correspondence and direct queries
About You:
You're organised, approachable and motivated to deliver exceptional service. We’re looking for someone with:
- Previous experience in finance or accounts administration
- Well-organised, able to meet deadlines and accurate record keeper
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- A proactive attitude and commitment to local government values
- Experience with the Scribe Accounting System (preferred but not essential)
- Able to work independently, to use own initiative and able to work as part of a busy team.
- Diplomacy and discretion skills
If not already held, the successful candidate would be expected to work towards obtaining the Finance Introduction to Local Council Administration (FILCA) qualification within 12 months.
