Kent Police Nuisance Vehicles and Anti Social Behaviour Update

An important update from PC Steven England on nuisance vehicles and anti-social behaviour at Lymington Road Recreation Ground

Please see below a positive update around nuisance vehicles and anti-social behaviour:

On the evening of Monday 21st September 2026, Kent Police were contacted about nuisance vehicles on the Recreation Ground at Lymington Road. I am aware that this has been a frequent cause of anti-social behaviour in the community, and so attended the area shortly after the call was made. On arrival a moped, a high powered electric bicycle, and an off road motorcycle made off across the fields to evade apprehension.

Shortly after, I observed a moped acting suspiciously around Station Road, which then failed to stop when signalled resulting in a brief pursuit. The moped was subsequently located nearby in Westbrook with the rider trying to evade police by jumping through gardens. He was successfully apprehended and checks completed on the recovered moped showed it to be stolen in August 2026.

Further examination of the moped showed vegetation underneath the chassis consistent with where it had made off across the field earlier from Lymington Road Recreation Ground. The suspect was arrested for a range of offences and is currently in police custody.

This highlights how public engagement with Kent Police can yield really impactful results. One suspect in custody, one stolen moped recovered, no injuries to any parties, and a strong message to others that this will not be tolerated in Westgate-on-Sea.
