Wood or Metal?

We’re committed to keeping you involved in every step of the journey as we plan a new playground for Westgate-on-Sea.

At the first stage of our voluntary consultation, residents showed a clear preference for Sea Road as a location, and the council voted to proceed with this site in principle. There will be a statutory consultation conducted by TDC when an application for planning permission is lodged.

As part of the next stage, we’ll be briefing playground designers to create some initial designs. Before we can do that, we’d like to hear your thoughts on one of the key decisions - what main material would you prefer the playground to be built from, wood or metal?

This is an informal poll to help guide the design brief. The results will be used to choose equipment and develop playground designs, which will then be shared.

Please let us know your vote and share any thoughts in the feedback box. This will help shape the designs we bring back to the community.

We will also be asking this question on our Facebook page, in the Town Council magazine and through flyers available across town.

THE PROJECT

Westgate-on-Sea Town Council has been awarded £40,000 from Thanet District Council, which, together with £20,000 from the Council’s own budget, will allow us to provide a new play area for residents and visitors to the town.

The TDC £40,000 contribution is ring fenced for new development only (so cannot be spent on Lymington Road improvements) and is dependent on the £20,000 contribution from the Town Council’s own budget.

We can assure residents that a report has been compiled for repairs at Lymington Road and quotes are currently being gathered.
