Pride in Place Impact Funding For Westgate Skatepark

We are absolutely delighted to announce that Westgate-on-Sea Town Council has been awarded a £20,000 grant from the Government Pride in Place Impact Fund to complete Phase Two of the Lymington Road Skatepark build.

Thanks to Westgate-on-Sea Town Council Chair David Donaldson, with input from Vice Chair and lead of the Skatepark Working Party, Clive Veck, and expert, Nic Powley of Margate Skateboard Club CIC, the successful bid means Westgate’s kids will have a brand new facility for 2027.

Work is planned to start in early September with completion aimed for late autumn.

Cllr Ruth Duckworth, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Property at Thanet District Council said: "Local spaces are the heartbeat of Thanet's communities, and every town and parish deserves facilities that people can be proud of. By approving all of the submitted projects, we are ensuring that people living across Thanet will benefit from the Pride in Place Impact Fund. This funding is about creating real benefits that residents can see and enjoy in their everyday lives."

We’d also like to say a massive thank you to the members of our Skatepark Working Party who have been instrumental in bringing this project to life, including our community members whose work helped raise awareness and provide additional funds for finishing touches and ongoing skate projects at the park.
